Ce tome contient les épisodes 220 à 227 de la série "Uncanny X-Men" (en abrégé UXM), 340 de "Incredible Hulk", et 55 à 61 de New Mutants, parus en 1987/1988. L’équipe des X-Men se compose de Wolverine, Dazzler (Alison Blair), Longshot, Havok (Alex Summers), Rogue (Anna Marie), et Psylocke (Betsy Braddock). Colossus (Piotr Rasputin) se joint à eux dans les derniers épisodes.

UNCANNY X-MEN 200 à 227 (scénario de Chris Claremont, dessins de Marc Silvestri pour les épisodes 220 à 222 & 224 à 227, Kerry Gammill pour 223, avec un encrage ou finitions de Dan Green, sauf pour l’épisode 224 encré par Bob Wiacek) – Storm estime qu’elle doit absolument recouvrer ses pouvoirs (perdus dans Lifedeath, en particulier les épisodes 186 & 198) pour assumer pleinement son rôle de chef des X-Men. Elle a donc entrepris de suivre la trace de Forge (Le faiseur, The Maker) pour qu’il construise un dispositif les rétablissant. Elle commence par se rendre à son dernier domicile connu, un gratte-ciel à Dallas où elle trouve Naze, l’ancien mentor de Forge, également shaman. Ensemble ils remontent sa trace dans les montagnes du Grand Canyon. De leur coté les X-Men séjournent à San Francisco où ils essayent de défendre Madelyne Pryor contre les Maraudeurs (comprenant Sabretooth et Malice possédant le corps de Polaris, c’est-à-dire Lorna Dane, la compagne d’Alex Summers). Ils sont ensuite attaqués par l’équipe gouvernementale Freedom Force (composée de Pyro, Blob, Mystique, Spiral, Avalanche, Crimson Commando, Stonewall, Super Sabre, et Destiny, avec leur agent de liaison Valerie Cooper).
